Woodstock and Tattoos

The 40th anniversary of the Woodstock festival also brings back memories of one of my tattoos.  I lived in NY for years and Woodstock was a day trip for me.  While there, I impulsively visited a Tattoo Shop and got a small tribal on the top of my foot. Our timing was perfect – no customers – so (against my own advice ) I got an impulsive tattoo. The shop is still there – 13 years later – Bruce Barts.

If you ever have a chance to visit Woodstock NY – do it.  It’s a great town with funky shops. Anytime is a good time for a visit as the area relies heavily on tourism.    Barts organized a village wide tattoo convention that I was lucky enough to attend back in 2004.  It didn’t get a huge turnout but if you made it – you had a good time.  Artists that attended were from all over the world and this was the opportunity to personally meet Lizard Man.

There were buses to truck you into town and then once dropped off, you could walk to every event which was spread about the village.  He brought together internationally known artists, had art fusion, bands, and stage shows.
