Tattoos Benefiting Cancer Patients

Some people are completely unaware of one of the practical and helpful cosmetic offerings that tattoo body art offers.  When we think cosmetic and tattoos permanent makeup comes to mind but this is different.

One area of the medical field works together with tattoo artists to provide body art after breast surgery.  Offices that offer breast reconstruction surgery are teaming up with local tattoo artists who may even come right to the surgeon’s office to administer areola tattooing.  Some women are seeking tattoo artists on their own after learning of the procedure.

This is a story about such a procedure.  Jaimie Hurst underwent a total of 10 surgeries but was eventually able to get her areola tattooed.  Once Jaimie read about the process, she used the internet to research an artist that was experienced in tattooing areolas. She went with Vinnie Myers, of Little Vinnie’s Tattoo who has experience and often performs areola tattooing on women who have undergone surgery.

Myers mixes different shades of ink to come up with the most realistic color for the areola.  With his extensive experience, Myers is able to achieve a 3-D image of a nipple in the tattoo for women who didn’t get nipple reconstructive surgery.  Myers makes the nipple look realistic by adding the little touches. He adds Montgomery glands, which are sebaceous glands in the areola.

Jaimie is extremely happy with the results and says ironically she is the last person you’d normally find in a tattoo shop.
