A California native, Abey Alvarez start work at the young age of 5 – sweeping floors and doing what he could in the family barber shop and continued to work hard throughout his young years. Now in his thirties, Abey has a family of his own and works hard at his current calling – tattoo artist. In his twenties, he ended up doing some time in prison and that was the catalyst that made him the tattoo artist he is today. His cell mate introduced him to the art of tattooing. His specialty is realism in black and grey. He works at Lowrider Tattoo in California. His realism is stunning and portrait work is outstanding. I chose this one to illustrate his talent – not that the subject matter is something to write home about but I was floored by his technique and ability to make the cutlery look like it’s coming right off the skin. Definitely visit the site to view all his work – this guy is going to go far in the field of tattooing.
