Harley Barbie and KenWhen I was a kid, Barbie and Ken were pretty bland and my Barbie doll house was made of cheap cardboard.  When my daughters were little, they had much snazzier houses and cars along with more attractive Barbie dolls. Now your Barbie choices are staggering.

If my kids were still young enough to play with dolls, you know I’d be buying this set.  It’s called the Barbie Harley and comes with Ken and Barbie with tattoos and piercings. (The motorcycle is sold separately.) They must sell well since this is only one of many in a Harley Davidson series.

Some parents feel this promotes a negative “lifestyle”. In my opinion, it has little impact on little ones. I also don’t associate tattoos with anything bad or negative.  But everyone has their own parenting style.

The way I look at it – a child who owns a doll like this would not necessarily grow up to get a tattoo.

Owning a G.I. Joe when you were 5 didn’t mean you’d feel compelled to join the army when you turned 18. It’s pretend.

This is so true. If we look back to the images and cartoons we were exposed to it meant really nothing to how we turned out. I think kids should be able to express within reason without stigmas of how they are going to grow up
