Doctor Refuses Treatment to Patient because of Tattoos

by on Feb.26, 2009, under News, Tattoos-Body Art

Girl Arm with TatsThis story is about a year old but new to me. A pediatrician practicing in a town called Bakersfield, refused to treat a child for an ear infection because he objected to the mom’s tattoos. The doctor believed in a Christian atmosphere for his office and was following his beliefs. This doctor follows these guidelines – no tattoos, piercings, and other such requirements. According to the AMA, this doctor had every right to enforce these beliefs (????) – he says he wants his patients to have a “comfortable atmosphere”.  WTF! Refusing to treat a child because he doesn’t like the artwork the Mom is sporting – yeah, that’s so Christian like.
