Big Gus has become more well known in recent years and you can see his work in magazines. I tried to find a good site for his shop or just for his bio and work but like many tattoo artists, promotion on the internet isn’t a priority. He started tattooing at the extremely young age of 14 years of age with a jailhouse machine. He grew up in a tough neighborhood and his talent was his catalyst into a successful and rewarding career. The beginning was rough – working in a rubber mixing company and tattooing and learning at his first shop. In time, he made the leap – quit the day job and become a full time artist and his talent blossomed from there.
His first year was rough, barely squeaking by a living but he was a fast learner and it didn’t take long to build up his own clientele. You can see his gallery on Tattooartists.org.
