John Lynch, also known as Prince “John” Albert”, is quite a unique character whose story is just as interesting as his visible appearance. He is known for having the most piercings of anyone in the UK where he resides. You may recognize him from tattoo and piercing sites, tattoo conventions, and magazines. I’ve seen his picture in the media but never thought much about the man behind the metal. Until I read an interesting interview with him.

He worked in the banking industry for over 30 years and didn’t start getting tattoos and piercings until after he left this long running career. He was married for over 20 years and has a daughter and two grandchildren. He eventually admitted he was gay and left his marriage. He went from a banking career to managing a gay porn book shop. You might say this was the turning point of John’s life as well as a major career change.

Now John is almost 80 years old and still loves his freakiness. He enjoys the people he meets who are curious about his appearance and he has no problem with people taking his picture. And as if his many piercings, facial tattoos and face paint weren’t enough to catch your eye, John is known for wearing mini-skirts. He also sports transdermal implant horns on his head.

John’s advice to young people is to never get tattoo or piercings that would interfere with their employment prospects. He followed his own advice and seems to have made up for lost time.

Wakes are not the most pleasant of times, but they can be a bit entertaining when your family decides to do an unusual and odd thing. Shake things up a bit if you will. When a Puerto Rican family made the arrangements for their 22 year old relative, who was murdered this past Thursday, they wanted to send him off by honoring the man’s passion. He loved to ride his motorcycle. So after the funeral home embalmed his body, they dressed him in his jeans, propped some shades on his head and posed him on his Honda for the entire 3 day wake. The funeral home is known for honoring unusual requests. Although David Morales Colón’s life was cut short – his wake will be famous and noteworthy thank to blogs like this.

Tattooed Fish

Maybe you’ve heard of painted cats – but have you heard of tattooed fish? Singapore exports tattooed fish to interested stores although animal rights activists do not condone this strange practice. The fish are sedated (I wonder how that is done?) and then they are tattooed in the same manner as humans – needles are used to insert pigments into the skin. The tattoos last 3-4 months.

Robert Bradford is an artist from the UK who is producing attractive pieces of work from recycled materials. His sculptures utilize plastic toys as their main modeling material. His site states that his ideas come from a various sources, including :- psychotherapeutic concepts ( the artist practiced as a therapist for several years) and the culture and climate of the time. In addition to physical experiments with matter and things… everything from fire to paint to objects to past and present aesthetics and styles. People and other species, synthetic and natural worlds.

Strange Moon Art (love the name) is Stephanie Alice Rogers art work which compliments her writing and poetry. Many of her art dolls are based upon her own stories, characters from her favorite novels, omens, superstition or myths & legends. She displays her paintings but I think her dolls and these trophy pieces are where her strengths are – judge for yourself.

Toilet Art

I guess art is all in the eye? of the beholder – I found a site displaying a sh*tload of urinals and various creative toilets. This is one of many and I like the realistic eyes and the “Sneer” at the mouth area. Kinda makes you afraid do even take care of business. I haven’t seen this in my every day wanderings but maybe this type of art will grown in popularity. Most individuals would not fully appreciate the work and creativity behind the art??
