This is the perfect phrase to describe the end of Amy Winehouse’s troubled life. How sad that it was her mother who uttered these words after learning of her daughter’s passing. Who would know her better than her mother? Everyone in her life saw her sinking with her addictions but could only watch on helplessly as she self destructed.
It makes you wonder if her unique talent and soulfulness would have been part of her music without the addiction and turmoil that was her lifestyle. Being a musician was the most important thing to her but yet the resulting fame and attention seemed to contribute to the reason she was unable to find peace in her life. Somewhat of a Catch-22 situation
She is now joins Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Curt Cobain, Brian Jones, Robert Johnson, and Jim Morrison as part of the 27 Club.
I think many of us feel that at least now she’ll have some peace that she was unable to find in her life. Now, at least, her hell on earth is over.
For those of us old enough to remember albums, this site is entertaining. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been updated recently but you’ll still see a page full of OLD LP covers and the style of artwork popular in the 50-60s.I remember the days when album covers were creative and had some of the coolest pics.
