Celebrity tattoos really have 2 meanings. On one hand, you have celebrities with tattoos. This group is growing all the time and celebrities are more than proud to show off their tattoos when being photographed. There are websites focused on this subject as well as at least one book has been published featuring celebrity tattoos. This has a positive influence for the tattoo industry. Fans of celebrities tend to mimic them. They admire them so it makes since. If it’s OK and safe for their heroes to get tattoos , then tattoos are A OK for them. Hell, some fans probably admire some of these people so much they may even get the same tattoo as the person they admire.

Then we have the other side of the coin. Everyday people getting ink that will be a constant reminder of celebrities they admire. Celebrities that hold a special place for them. I can’t say I have that much affection or respect for any celebrity but to each his own.

Too Fast Online

I’m going to give a shout out to an ex business associate and all around nice person who runs one of the best online tattoo clothing stores to be found on the internet. Too Fast Clothing is owned and operated by Maureen a former resident of Albuquerque. She has since moved her family and company to the Jersey Shore. The site and the product offerings keep getting better and better. So, even though I haven’t talked to her in awhile, I’m guessing things are going well. She sells baby clothes (like the onesie pictured here), items for the house but mostly tattoo clothes for adults. She’s been in the business for many years and is a good person to do business with. Angel Art

Body art can be used to describe tattoos as well as many other types of body art. Temporary but elaborate paintings are very popular and are often part of art shows here and in other countries. It’s becoming more respected as an art form. It’s just sad to think they are basically temporary art that will washed (more likely scrubbed) off the skin of these models. Similar to sandcastle art that is admired for such a short time and then lost forever when the tide comes in. It makes you appreciate the effort even more. At least we can appreciate the photos to remind us. I love the planning involved with adding the cherubs to the knee area.

Tattoos and Tentacles

Some weeks it’s hard to find new and fresh topics to blog about – I think of it as Blogger’s block and then there are the weeks where you find a gem like this and you can’t wait to get that post written. This is one of those types. The talented young team working at Julian Murray Photography and Design from Las Vegas has some offbeat projects. (Tattoos & Tentacles from Julian Murray on Vimeo.) They work in primarily the music, advertising, and fashion industries. One of the projects they’ve been working on this past year and plan to continue expanding upon is called the Tattoos and Tentacles Series. Check out the video – gives you an idea of the photo shoots. It features heavily tattooed people posing with a sea creature with tentacles. It looks like an octopus. A fairly small one but gives me the creeps to think about them those rubbery suction cups clinging to skin. Many of the photos are of beautiful. There are many with barely clad sexy women with the tentacle arms draped strategically to keep a person from seeing quite everything. You just wonder how they can stand it. And the models probably have to work with this creature for quite some time before getting the shot the photographer is looking for. Ughhh….The photos are cool and books and posters will be coming this year. The series will be part of future tattoo conventions and gallery showing. You may have an opportunity to see them in person.

Kreepy – Pin-Up Model and Tattooist

Kreepy – not sure how that name came about but it’s the only one this famous pinup model goes by. Kreepy Lourdes.

Kreepy Lourdes began her professional career as a pin-up tattoo model but was collecting ink well before thoughts of a modeling career crossed her mind. Kreepy says switching careers came as a natural since learning the craft has been a passion of hers. Kreepy is into “Old School” style when it comes to all aspects of her being. You will feel as if you’ve been whisked back to the 1940’s when you walk into her place of business. Right down to the flash on the walls. Any examples of her tattoo work are in the Sailor Jerry Old School style. She’s managed to be successful with both careers and her love of days gone by is evident in her tattoo work.

Nina Kate is a savy young tattoo and fetish model from London that knows how to promote herself and distance herself from the other models trying to make it in this growing field. I mean the girl is only 24 years old and she has a solid web site and recently had an extensive interview in Skin Deep Magazine. Her look varys from shoot to shoot and photograph to photograph to the point that you don’t realize it’s the same model. She said the interest started early in her life when her sister and her would dress up in her Mom’s old clubbing clothes – latex mini skirts and leopard prints – her destiny was established. Her modeling career began when she was 16 and she was soon sending off pictures of herself to various magazines. She started her own clothing company called Jane Doe Latex which specializes in rubber attire and other similar fetish clothing items. Her clothing line offers off the rack and custom pieces.

Alternative Tattoo Model-Amina Munster

Amina Munster is a talented, beautiful, punk style, tattooed alternative model. The alternative part is a reference to her limb loss which in this picture is decorated with a dagger tattoo. Tattoo models have been more in demand as the popularity of tattoos has spilled into mainstream. Advertising is now looking at the appeals and beauty of tattoos rather than considering them tabu in ads. I have a thing for dolls but this wasn’t quite where my searching would end up. This is Alli Jiang – who is the live model and also the digital enhancing for a series of photos where she poses in a doll like manner with “joints” drawn in to give the feeling of a real doll. You’ll be able to view the whole series which is creepy and cool at the same time and from there you can link to other series of photos this young artist has done.

The company,TY KU, is currently searching for a model with tattoos for their next A great opportunity for exposure for someone with tattoos or even an artist whose work is chosen. The site is great too – has a lot of tattoo history info, etc. – many of the current contestants pics can be seen.

Wicked Talent

The popularity of tattoos have created business opportunities such as this online site I found, Wicked Talent.
I have received inquiries from a couple young girls looking to break into the tattoo modeling field. I found this agency that models, photographers, and illustrators of the “alternative community” by having a publically accessible portfolio. I’m not sure if it costs to join, but it seems like a good avenue for talent looking to make a name in the tattoo world.
