Tattoo Furniture – I was actually searching for tattoo designs on furniture when I found this site, Mama Tried in New York City, where the leather furniture actually has a design implemented as a tattoo. The artist almost treats the material as skin. There is a photo of the process in action – which looks strange – especially since the artist is wearing the latex gloves associated with tattoo artists.

Some pieces such as this chair is upholstered with hand tattooed leather. Mama Tried also carrys tables that are engraved with a laser as well as pillows treated with laser etching.

Recycled Art

This husband and wife team produce brightly painted works of art, many of these pieces serving a dual purpose – attracive and striking to see and recycling . They are able to take everyday household items, items you will find in any local landfill, and turn them into beautiful pieces of work. They also have a large variety of furniture and wall pieces. I had the pleasure of seeing their work in person and the pictures don’t do it justice. Visit Rokoko – located in Las Cruces NM. They don’t seem to have a way to buy the pieces on the site, but they do shows around the southwest and I imagine any serious inquiries for purchasing would be welcome. Great stuff.

There are not a lot of tattoo related furniture or accent designs but I think you’ll see more options in the future. More and more people are finding they like skull designs, old school tattoo designs, on their skin as well as in their clothing choices and eventually, home decorating. They have a classy design approach and have examples of skateboards, tables and chair.

Tattoo History

One of my readers sent me some interesting news about his brother selling this piece of history. It’s a hand-crafted chest, with hand-painted glass inlay, created by legendary tattoo artist Amund Dietzel, for use in his tattoo parlor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dietzel (1890-1973) was a Danish immigrant who made his way to the US and became a tattoo artist. He is renowned for his remarkable and unique tattoo art, and his “BLACK PANTHER” design which is still duplicated in tattoo parlors all over the world.
