It was crazy enough when the trend was to paint your cat but now things are way over the top. A newest rage is catching on in China – colorizing or dying and basically, giving the dog a makeover. It’s already caught on in Korea and Japan. I’m not talking just a makeover – they actually try to alter and change the dog’s entire appearance. The spas cater to wealthy Chinese who have more money than they know what to do with and no common sense.Pet ownership is high in China and businesses that promote pampering those pets are thriving in that country. Pet spas are popular and offer services such things as pedicures, dog massages, and rose petal bubble baths.

They trim the hair to help imitate whatever animal they’re trying to emulate. For the panda look, some of the fur was cut and some of the hair was bunched up in elastic bands to create the short rounded ears of a panda.

The owners say getting these treatments helps with their animals self confidence. They get so much attention when they’re out in public, everyone “ohs” and “ahs” over them. It seems to me that it’s bolstering the owner’s ego. I haven’t heard of the similar business of painting cats ever caught on. The book was out years ago.

Veterinarians warn that the dyes may be harmful to their skin and the whole charade may actually be hurting the dog’s mental well-being. Do something more worthwhile with that cash. Help the homeless and leave the dogs alone.

Almost Forgot Brandon

Well talk about feeling foolish. Talk about feeling like I’m losing it. I’ve never done a post about Brandon Bond. I’ve read about him. Respected his work. Admired his work. He believes not only in rescuing this mistreated and misunderstood breed, he’s also involved with rehabilitating them so they can eventually be placed in a loving home. He was a major player in finding homes for the abused dogs used by Michael Vick’s fighting group. He, personally, has adopted multiple rehabilitated pit bulls. All or Nothing rescue works closely with the Georgia SPCA www.georgiaspca.com and the two are working together to insure the safety and training of pit bulls.

Sick Fetish

Do you ever wonder just how low our society can get? How depraved some people’s actions can be? I just learned about a sexual fetish that made me want to vomit. The fetish is fed by videos called “Crush Videos”. Now some aspects of this practice I don’t have a problem with. Some of them involve only the crushing of inanimate objects. But in others, women wearing stiletto heels will slowly and painfully impale or crush a small puppy or kitten or other small animal. And people get off on watching these films. Who are these people? Anyone who can get sexually excited and satisfied from watching a helpless, defenseless animal be killed on film has to be capable of enjoying other flavors of degeneracy. Reading about this type of fetish was enough to turn my stomach. Get your rocks off some other way. But leave the helpless animals alone! (Tattooed Dog by artist Shane O’Neill of Wilmington)

Medicinal Tattoos

In a strange tale – a pet owner had a problem with her small border collie dog. Whenever he was exposed to the sun for any length of time, he would get a sunburn on his nose. Since the dog loved being outside, the pet owner brought it up on one of the dog’s visits to the vet. He suggested tattooing the dog’s nose. It has a sun-blocking pigment and can fix the problem. This is a new one on me. Tattoos are used in a somewhat related way for humans. There is a rare skin disorder that causes skin blisters when they are exposed to the sun. Julia Gnuse is one such sufferer – and she has over 90 percent of her body covered with body art. The reason is not to prevent blistering – but to hide the scars.

I added Jay Wheeler to my Best Tattoo Sites today. Found some of his work in a magazine and recognized various pictures from mags I had read in the past but never took note of this artist. He is from Michigan and has been tattooing for over 16 years and has won all sorts of awards. Easy to understand – his portraits are awsome.

I love my 2 dogs and although I don’t buy them clothes or jewelry. I think sites that sell this stuff are popular with lots of folk. Check out this cool doggie charm – for your pup’s collar. Ugliest Dog in the World

This dog has the kind of face only a Mom could love – this strange looking creature was voted ugliest dog in the world but someone sure loves this little strange creature. Loved him enough to get his tattoo portrait. Dogs are like kids for some of us. We are drawn to the plain jane, the imperfect creature. The one that will not be the first chosen and the ignored. Some of us prefer the not so beautiful and attractive because many times these creatures have the sweetest personalities because they probably weren’t spoiled and appreciate any attention they are given.

Usually you just see the pics of the dog and the tattoo end product but I thought this pic was so cute. I’m a dog lover but can’t see me getting a portrait – especially in such a visible location – but this gal is a real pooch lover. Sweet. Pet portraits are also used by many to give tribute to beloved pets that have passed on. A tribute and in memory of a animal that will remain with them forever.

Beside having a couple sites selling punk clothing, I also have a dog related site that lists clothes – Information about Dogs and of course my personal favorite style has skulls, etc. on the dog clothes.
