This is the perfect phrase to describe the end of Amy Winehouse’s troubled life. How sad that it was her mother who uttered these words after learning of her daughter’s passing. Who would know her better than her mother? Everyone in her life saw her sinking with her addictions but could only watch on helplessly as she self destructed.
It makes you wonder if her unique talent and soulfulness would have been part of her music without the addiction and turmoil that was her lifestyle. Being a musician was the most important thing to her but yet the resulting fame and attention seemed to contribute to the reason she was unable to find peace in her life. Somewhat of a Catch-22 situation
She is now joins Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Curt Cobain, Brian Jones, Robert Johnson, and Jim Morrison as part of the 27 Club.
I think many of us feel that at least now she’ll have some peace that she was unable to find in her life. Now, at least, her hell on earth is over.

I’m not a sports fan but this sweet, emotional story caught my attention. To watch a teammate, friend, roommate – drown right in front of your eyes has to be a person’s worse experience. A horrible memory of an awful day. An experience that can change a person forever. Oregon’s wide receiver Jeff Maehl was with his teammate Todd Doxey when he drowned after jumping into a strong river current back in 2008.
Doxey was Jeff’s roommate and his best friend. He is still in Maehl’s thoughts as well as his other team mates. Jeff decided to get a tattoo in memory of his friend. Maybe it will help ease the awful memory of that day and help to focus on the life his friend led instead. Hopefully it’ll give him some closure.

Wakes are not the most pleasant of times, but they can be a bit entertaining when your family decides to do an unusual and odd thing. Shake things up a bit if you will. He loved to ride his motorcycle. So after the funeral home embalmed his body, they dressed him in his jeans, propped some shades on his head and posed him on his Honda for the entire 3 day wake. continue reading

This is an old story that didn’t get a lot of publicity – it’s like something out of a twilight zone episode but I though it was worth bringing up for folks that didn’t catch the story when it originally came out.A 28 year old man getting a “Last Rites” tattoo on his arm in a Brooklyn shop got dizzy, fainted and fell head-first into a glass display case — slitting his throat and killing himself. continue reading
