Capturing a person’s likeness so that their face is easy to recognize is difficult whether the medium is paper and pencil or skin and tattoo ink. I think baby pictures can be even more difficult since a baby’s face doesn’t have much definition. So, although it’s true the baby portraits are a challenge, if you aren’t up to it just admit it. Some tattoo artists are talented enough to pull of portrait tattooing but it’s not usually a skill that all artists have. Artists usually know their strengths and they should also know their limitations. If you can’t carry it off – just don’t do it.

I found a blog that had a handy post that gathered 25 of these poorly done baby tattoos. You just gotta wonder what the recipient was thinking at the time.

Babies and Tattoos

This is one of my favorite topics – babies and tattoos. Pennsylvania artist, Dietrich Wegner, also sees the attraction as he has begun a series of photos featuring little babies and infants covered with colorful fake tattoos mostly advertising big companies like Chevy and Better Homes and Garden magazine. Little, crawling live advertisements. I think they’d be much cuter covered some skulls and tribal work. That would make a great table book. Wegner has some interesting sculptures – you can check out his work on his site.

Too Fast Online

I’m going to give a shout out to an ex business associate and all around nice person who runs one of the best online tattoo clothing stores to be found on the internet. Too Fast Clothing is owned and operated by Maureen a former resident of Albuquerque. She has since moved her family and company to the Jersey Shore. The site and the product offerings keep getting better and better. So, even though I haven’t talked to her in awhile, I’m guessing things are going well. She sells baby clothes (like the onesie pictured here), items for the house but mostly tattoo clothes for adults. She’s been in the business for many years and is a good person to do business with. I see a bright future for this artist. I have a couple imaging programs but find them so damn hard to learn. When I see someone accomplishing this level my mouth just hangs open. I can appreciate the work involved. Check out this video for a babysitting ad done by an art school student.

Toddler Gets Tattoo

Have you ever heard of the opinion that people should not be allowed to have children unless they were prequalified? Pass some type of “common sense” test that could determine if you have the brain capacity to care for another human life without fucking it up. Now we can expand on that to testing the friends of the potential parent. A twenty year old Louisville man by the name of Lee M. Derrick decided it was a great idea to place a tattoo on the rear end of a poor one year old kid that was visiting his home. Authorities have charged Derrick with a felony child endangering charge which means he is facing up to five years in the big house. I can almost guarantee he won’t get jail time but maybe this will illustrate to other morons out there that tattooing a toddler is not the best idea. The girls’ sixteen year old Aunt was present but I is not being charged. The police said that the mother did not grant permission for the tattoo and wasn’t present at the time. Deitrick was taken to the Stark County Jail under a probation hold.

Baby with a Backpiece

One of these days, I’ll collect all of these cute pictures. All of the pierced and tatted babies I find on the web. Isn’t this adorable? Right down to the pose and the onesie draped on the chair – so cute!I’m just learning about image software but whoever put this photo together did a nice job-considering the lighting and the way the baby is leaning. Great job.

I get a kick out of these pierced baby pictures. This one actually looks real and it makes you wonder if parents could actually pierce their kids, cause you know some extreme and crazy people would do it. All I know is this is precious and cute as hell.

Flash Your Tattoo

Last weekend I added a new line of white onesies with bright, colorful tattoo art on them and already have had a sale. Good sign that people will like them.
