Animal InkMike DeVries is one of my favorite artists. He’s most well known for his realistic color tattoos. He doesn’t seem to be on any type of ego trip even though he’s tattooed some celebrities and has won over 100 awards over the years.

He also has a good head on his shoulders for related businesses.  He sells his art work, videos, and books. He has tutorial books as well as art books he’s put together. He collects and publishes tattoos done by many talented tattoo artists for you to drool over. One of the books explores tattoos of skulls.  This latest book of his focuses on the topic of wildlife.  Wild animals are a popular tattoo choice so there is no shortage of outstanding body art in this category. DeVries has put it all together in this attractive full color book.

The tattoo artists who are featured in this wildlife tattoo book are very impressive. The list include: Bob Tyrrell, Roman Abrego, Sweet Laraine, Larry Brogan, Brandon Bond, Eva Huber, and Myke Chambers.

Cattoo Design

by on Jul.05, 2011, under Art, News, Tattoos-Body Art

Cat TattooI wanted to tell you about a new tattoo blog with a specific topic – cat tattoos. They call the cat tattoos they are featuring Team Cattoo.  They are combining tattoos and helping animals by bringing needed attention to animal rescue groups.  They are featuring people that help out animals and volunteer to work with organizations that desperately need help.  Any of these volunteers that have any cat tattoos will be pictured on this blog.

The latest blog post is about the San Francisco SPCA which is supported by the community.

Hopefully this blog will remind people that these groups could use any support you can offer. With the economy being in rough shape, people are turning in their animals in record numbers. They can’t afford to feed and keep them anymore.  All of the foreclosure in the last couple of years caused many families to give up their pets when they were forced to move. To compound the problem, funding is being cut to animal shelter across the country.  If you can spare some cash, donate to your local animal groups.  If you can’t afford a donation, see if you can give your time. Most shelters are always looking for volunteers to help out.

Rescue Ink This story combines two of my favorite topics – tattoos and dogs.  This is about a big burly bunch of ex cons, covered with tattoo work, which have made a difference in the city of New York.  They rescue defenseless animals from abusive homes and miserable conditions.  These ex-cons are making up for their past lives by doing a great service on behalf of abused animals. They formed Rescue Ink in 2008 and then in 2009 National Geographic turned their cause into a reality show.

This week they are traveling to my home town, Albany, to support New York’s Buster’s Law.  There is a proposal this week to strengthen the existing law by advocating stronger consequences for animal abuse.  Something they are all for.  They can help the cause by rescuing these animals but if the scumbags that are guilty of this abuse just get a slap on the wrist then they’ll continue to abuse animals.  At least if we can throw their ass in jail, they may think twice.

Rescue InkThey are the perfect choice when the situation calls for getting tough and making their point to the owners of the animals.

Show some support – visit their Facebook page to read more about them.
