Even though tattoos are becoming more accepted in the workforce and other mainstream arenas, our country’s armed forces have proven once again how out of touch they are with today’s younger generation. The Air Force recently made an update to their policy on tattoos. They banned any forearm tattoos and this ruling resulted in keeping able, willing recruits from following a career in the Air Force. It even disrupted new recruits from heading out to their basic training as they were signed up under the old rules. It expanded on its old ruling that banned excessive and obscene tattoos. The reasoning given is the Air Force would like to have their members portray a professional military image. continue reading
